COMMUNITY CARE
We continue to collect donations for the Food Bank at ProJeCt. They are especially in need of boxed cereal, canned sweet corn, and pasta. Note that they have a large donor that provides spaghetti, so they are asking for other types of canned or dry pasta. Food donations can be brought to the church office or left in the bins in the Narthex.
NURSERY SCHOOL
I was sitting with several of the children the other day enjoying a snack. I asked the children to please tell me something wonderful that had happened to them that day. Someone was happy to wear her new light up shoes. Someone was happy to play with the trains. Another child loved tracing letters in sand. When I got to the last child at the table, he sat up a little straighter and told me he had just learned that he is going to be a big brother. He was beaming! 99% of the new baby stories we hear are fiction, but not this one. The parents confirmed that, yes, he had just been told over breakfast. đ
UNITED FELLOWSHIP RUMMAGE SALE DONATIONS – September 25-26th
Our friends at United Fellowship are looking forward to their rummage sale on September 25 and 26.
JEWELRY NEEDED!
The Fall Craft and Vendor Event is rapidly approaching, and we are looking for your unloved jewelry. The jewelry tables are always a highlight of our Fall event, and this year is no different. Please bring your formerly loved, unloved, or just plain abandoned jewelry to church and drop it off in the bin in the Narthex labelled âJewelryâ. You are also always welcome to bring it to the church office or place it in the Hope House mailbox.
FALL CRAFT AND VENDOR EVENT â October 2nd & 3rd
The Annual SAW Fall Craft and Vendor Event will be held Friday and Saturday, October 2 and 3 from 9am to 2pm. Donations of baked goods, homemade soup, and jewelry are all needed to make it a successful event. In addition to the aforementioned items, we will be hosting a number of vendors as well as holding raffles (get your tickets from any member of SAW or from the church office). This is a big one, folks. You will definitely want to carve out some time to visit, volunteer, bake or make soup, or all the above. Proceeds from this annual event benefit St. Andrewâs Ministry Projects.
Event Set Up: Begins Thursday, October 1st at 5:00pm
Soup and Baked Goods Drop-Off: Thursday, 5-7pm (please pick up soup containers at church and bring pre-filled and labeled).
Fall Fair: Friday and Saturday, October 2 & 3, 9am â 2pm.
Raffle Drawings: Saturday, 1pm
BLUEY at LV Phantoms – October 11th – Reserve your seats now!
Many of our nursery school will be attending a LV Phantoms (hockey) game together on Sunday, October 11th at 1pm. Why? Bluey is coming! Yes, the global phenomenon BLUEY. If you arenât in the know, Bluey is a cartoon six-year-old blue heeler puppy who, with her younger sister Bingo, transform everyday family life into imaginative adventures. This Australian cartoon even has the endorsement of parents. If you are interested in joining us, we have group rate tickets available through September 25th for $26 apiece. We will be seated together. Make checks out to St. Andrewâs Nursery School, include an email address, and send payment to Elizabeth in the church office. All game tickets will be sent by email before the game.
BOSCOVâS FRIENDS HELPING FRIENDS – October 21st
SAW is once again offering $5 Discount Shopping Passes for the Boscovâs Friends Helping Friends one day sale on October 21st. With a shopping pass, you will receive 25% off most items in the store. The $5 charge is a donation to SAW â Boscovâs doesnât take a percentage. If Boscovâs is your happy place, or if you want to get a head start on Christmas shopping, see April Shaheen or Donna George for a savings pass.
Walmart Pharmacy is bringing a convenient immunization clinic to St. Andrewâs on Sunday, October 25th beginning at 10:30am. Available vaccines will be Seasonal Flu (both standard and high dose), Pneumonia, Shingles, RSV, Hepatitis A/B, Tetanus, and Covid. All interested parties must sign up ahead of time. Please see a member of the Parish Nurses team on Sunday mornings after worship in the Narthex for further information and/or to sign up. It is imperative that we know the number of each immunization needed ahead of time so that the team from Walmart (headed by our own Michael Stutz) can bring the proper supplies. You will need to remember your insurance card and the completed consent form which can be obtained on Sunday mornings. To clarify, the cost of immunizations will go through your insurance. Depending upon your insurance, immunizations MAY be free. If you are interested in immunizations and unable to pay, speak with Pastor Neel.
SAW BUS TRIP â November 17th – Only Five Seats Remaining!
The annual SAW Bus Trip is a highlight of the year! This November 17th, the group will be traveling to the Dutch Apple Dinner Theater. The total cost for the day (transportation, meal, and theater) is $115 per person. This yearâs show is âHolly Jolly Holidayâ.
