Here’s what’s Happening at St. Andrew’s Lutheran Palmer
COMMUNITY CARE
We continue to collect donations for the Food Bank at ProJeCt. They are especially in need of boxed cereal, canned sweet corn, and pasta. Please note that they have a large donor that provides spaghetti, so they are asking for other types of canned or dry pasta. Food donations can be brought to the church office or left in the bins in the Narthex.
We are also joining an ecumenical effort to assemble kits for the unhoused. We (St. Andrew’s) have been asked specifically to collect 100 or more hairbrushes and 100 or more pairs of the small, stretchy, one size fits most knit gloves. Most of the items have already been delivered to the group putting the packages together, but we will accept additional ones again this Sunday. In addition, we are invited to join members of these neighboring congregations for coffee, a light continental breakfast, and to engage in a service project. The first service brunch was held this morning, but a second is planned for Saturday, November 7th from 10am-Noon at Palmer Moravian Church, 2901 John Street, Easton.
ALTAR FLOWERS
We are happy to report that we have a new florist on board to supply our Altar Flowers. The cost is $50 for the bouquet. If you are interested in purchasing flowers to add to our worship service in memory or in honor of a loved one, you will find the sign-up sheet in the Narthex. Checks made out to St. Andrew’s Lutheran Church with “Altar Flowers” on the memo line can be mailed to the church office or left in the Offering Plate on Sunday morning.
NURSERY SCHOOL
The children learned about germs this week. They brushed giant teeth with toothbrushes and really concentrated on their handwashing skills. You can see some of their yucky interpretations of germs in the glass china cabinet in the Narthex. I wasn’t aware until today that germs might have feathers and some have a dozen or more (wiggly) eyes. They teach me so much! Next week we move into a unit on families and thankfulness. 😊 Finally, a bit thanks you to everyone who came out to Red Robin on Monday evening. With your help, we were able to raise $307 for the school!
SAW BUS TRIP – November 17th – Only Five Seats Remaining!
The annual SAW Bus Trip is a highlight of the year! This November 17th, the group will be traveling to the Dutch Apple Dinner Theater. The total cost for the day (transportation, meal, and theater) is $115 per person. This year’s show is “Holly Jolly Holiday”. Immerse yourself in the spirit of the season with this original holiday musical extravaganza sure to make you merry. The halls are decked with holly, so let the jolly festivities begin with lively dancing and singing to the yuletide tunes you know and love—along with a visit from Old St. Nick himself! COMMITMENT SUNDAY – November 22nd
In honor of Commitment Sunday, the Spiritual Gifts Committee will provide refreshments before and after the worship service to thank everyone for their continued support of St. Andrew’s.
WEDNESDAYS IN ADVENT – December 2nd thru December 16th
St. Andrew’s will once again partner with our neighboring Lutheran congregations for Wednesday evening soup suppers and worship during Advent. Soup will be served each week at 6:00pm and worship will begin at 7:00pm. Please mark your calendars to attend at the following locations:

CONGREGATIONAL MEETING – December 6th
Our Annual Meeting of the Congregation happens in two parts. The first part of the meeting is held the first Sunday of each December (snow date is the following Sunday), immediately following worship. This is the meeting when we discuss and vote of the 2027 Budget that has been recommended by Council. It is also the meeting when we elect Council Members for the following year. Please watch your emails in the next few weeks for the proposed budget and contact any member of Council or Pastor Neel if you are interested in serving as a Council member.
The second half of the meeting is held early in the year, typically in February, and is the meeting when we discuss and applaud the many ministries of the church and share the annual report. That date will be announced in the coming weeks.
